Martin Bennett's photographs portray eye-catching
scenes of markets and kiosks selling the bounty of Indonesia. The heart
of Indonesian commerce for centuries centered on the everyday shopping
at the local pasar. Urban versions of the traditional village pasar
offer
concentrations of kiosks in multi-storied structures and rows of similar
shops on the side of city streets. Fruit markets, flower markets, antique
markets and the fresh fish markets near ports are a beehive of activity
throughout the day.
